What is Industrial Waste?
Industrial waste is defined as waste generated by manufacturing and industrial processes. It includes many things, such as: oil, solvents, chemicals, paint, cleaning fluids, weed grass and trees, wood and scrap lumber, among other things. Industrial waste can be divided into 2 sides, hazardous and non-hazardous. Most industrial wastes are hazardous and cause hurt to marine life and human life.

Why is this a problem?
Many big factories have treatment facilities but some of the smaller factories do not have these fortunes. Industrial waste gets into the water systems by factories dumping chemical waste from the productions into rivers or lakes in order to dispose of it. When these chemicals and wastes are released into the nearby streams or lakes or oceans it diminishes the quality of the water. The chemicals kill fish, birds and most plant life. Also, polluted water is not suitable for drinking or for eating the little marine life alive in it. Nobody can escape the effects of water pollution.
What can we do?
I explained a lot of this in the Marine Dumping page but there are a few different things that need to be done in order to prevent factories and manufacturers from dumping this.
If you are the owner of a business then please listen to these things. If you are not try to spread the word and show people what they should not be doing.

- Change the composition of the product to reduce the amount of waste resulting from the product’s use.
- Reduce hazardous material that is released
- Use more precise machinery and technology to reduce the amount of excess materials left
- Do not purchase extra amounts of materials and try to be more exact
- Use the waste created for other things and recycle it into other things
